Solar Diamant was established on June 30, 1978. The first production facility was acquired in Wettringen (Münsterland) in 1982.
Besides the ongoing further development of collectors and storage tanks, the following years also saw Solar Diamant focus on passive solar technology, i.e. construction and design of facades and winter gardens, as well as photovoltaic use of solar energy.
Solar Diamant continued to grow and think ahead.
In 1992, the production and storage space was expanded to approx. 5,000 square metres. The company developed and built a zero-energy house in Münster (1993/94), introduced solar systems with long-term storage tank for low-energy houses (1994) and obtained patents for industrial systems for domestic hot water and heating support (1996).
The cooperation between Buderus Heiztechnik GmbH and Solar Diamant dates back to 1993.
At the time, Buderus decided to offer exclusively products from Solar Diamant in the solar technology segment.
In view of the expected strong expansion of the company, especially of the sales organisation, Buderus was looking for a strong partner. Negotiations with Buderus finally led to Buderus Heiztechnik GmbH taking over all shares in Solar Diamant Systemtechnik GmbH in early March 1997.
On July 1, 2008, Solar Diamant was renamed Bosch Solarthermie GmbH.
Bosch Solarthermie GmbH is currently among the largest manufacturers of flat collectors in Germany and is a centre of excellence for customer-oriented solar products under the umbrella of Bosch Thermotechnik GmbH.
