Broadwater Farm in Haringey, London is a large estate consisting mainly of social housing. In recent years it has been undergoing the most comprehensive and wide-reaching improvement programme within the estate’s history.

Alongside structural and internal improvement to existing homes on the estate, there has also been a new district heating system completed in 2019.

Bosch Commercial & Industrial are one of the few manufacturers who are able to provide technology both for plant room and the end users. For Broadwater Farm we provided 830 of our BESA Registered Heat Interface Units for the residents in the housing estate.

Developed by a group of industry experts, the BESA HIU test regime is the UK Standard for HIUs. This ensures that the local authority in charge of Broadwater Farm know their residents are receiving the highest quality heating technology in their apartments.

However, the reason why we were approached for this project was for our overall service offering. Bosch C&I are able to provide an extensive team of highly skilled engineers and back-up support for the design and installation of the HIUs in the development.

Another reason for our selection for the project is after-service offering. Due to the development being predominantly social housing, the local authority has a long-term commitment to service and reliability for the estate. As our HIUs are manufactured in the UK we have a large stock of spare parts if needed. Our huge network of domestic engineers are all HIU trained as well, and finally our commitment to offer next day technical support.

For the commissioning process, we sent engineers to site free of charge to help the developers get their network up and running – something we do for all projects we are involved in.

Finally, the district heating network will not only provide efficient heat and hot water to residents, but also help reduce individual tenant energy bills. We are proud to have been part of such a large improvement programme for the area.
